第一句中的talking on the telephone表示“正在用电话交谈”，即我们通常所说的“正在打电话”。一般一谈到打电话，首先会想到动词"call"，"telephone"，但这两个词在这个情画面中文提示：
画面上的女人花枝招展，满面春风？她身后的男士急汗淋漓，一筹莫展。这幅画揭示了当今社会中时常会遇到的现象：自私，不顾他人。

第五句He is looking at his watch,and he seems very upset.中的前半句是描写，后半句是议论。这句后可以加上几句猜测或联想，以使叙述免于单调：
