（一）如果与until(till)时间状语搭配的谓语动词是短暂动词的否定形式，则这种句子常被译为“直到……才”。即“主句（否定式）＋until”(till)时间状语或状语从句。例如：
I didn't go to bed until(till)she came back.
直到她回来我才睡觉。
I didn't go to bed until(till)ten o'clock last night.昨天晚上我到10点钟才睡觉。
（二）如果与until(till)时间状语搭配的谓语动词是持续动词的肯定形式，则这类句子常被译为“直到……为止”。即“主句（肯定式）＋until(till)时间状语或状语从句”。例如：
I worked until(till)she came back.我一直工作到她回来为止。
1 watched TV until(till)ten o'clock last night.
昨晚我看电视看到10点钟。
注意：until从句出现在句首时，不能用till取代until。例如：
Until I finished my homework,I didn't go to bed.直到做完家庭作业我才睡觉。
（三）“Not until...did＋主语”结构通常用来强调not until引起的时间状语。即"not+until"短语位于句首时，句中的主语、谓语要部分倒装。这种句子常被译为“直到……才”。例如：
Not until I finished my homework did I go to bed last night.昨晚直到做完家庭作业我才睡觉。
Not until last week did he realize that he was wrong.直到上星期他才认识到他错了。
（四）"It was not until...+that"结构通常也是为了强调not until引起的时间状语。即“It was+not until时间状语或状语从句＋that＋句子其余部分”。例如：
