While addressing the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019, Wang said it is imperative to respect national sovereignty and refrain from seeking technological hegemony or interfering in other countries’ domestic affairs.
He called for efforts to uphold multilateralism and jointly build a system of rules for technology and a new international cooperation framework featuring peace, security,democracy, transparency, inclusiveness and mutual benefit so that all people can gain from technological innovation.
“Regarding China, for the first half of the year it was the largest investment recipient in the world,”Zhan said at a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland, on January 21.
Global foreign direct investment(FDI) flows continued their slide in 2018, a UN agency said on January 21, while noting that China bucked that trend and was the largest investment recipient in the world.
Wang also called for accommodating the interests of all countries in a balanced manner, especially those of emerging markets and developing countries.

“We need to explore the adoption of relevant rules and standards phase by phase, while leaving broad space for the dissemination and application of scientific discovery and technological innovation,” he said.
The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)released its 2019 Investment Trends Monitor report, saying FDI should increase in 2019, but that underlying trends remain weak.
Investment flows into China remained at a high level, with a stable, steady and modest increase,said Zhan, adding, “Each modest increase reached a new record level for Chinese investment in flows.”
He also said the primary reasons that investment flows increased into China at a very high level were further liberalization, particularly in the service sector, along with the financial sector, and intensified efforts to promote investment in hitech industries.
The third consecutive drop brings FDiflows back to the lowest point reached after the global financial crisis in 2008, said James Zhan,UNCTAD’s Director of Investment and Enterprise.
Pointing out that new technologies bring opportunities and also create risks and challenges, Wang said countries need to uphold the security of all humanity, improve the policy environment and promote social prosperity and stability.
“One should not ask the whole world to address only the security concerns or comply only with the standards of developed countries or individual countries,” he said.
Global FDifell 19 percent in 2018 to an estimated $1.2 trillion from $1.47 trillion in 2017, said the UNCTAD.

Zhan cautioned that geopolitical risks “are all growing in a big way” in terms of the global investment climate in economic growth prospects,policy direction, and geopolitical,political and economic tensions.

New-energy vehicle production is expected to exceed 800,000 units by 2022, according to a four-year action plan on the development of Zhejiang’s auto industry.
In 2022, the industrial output of the province’s auto industry is expected to reach 1 trillion yuan($147 billion), with 400 billion yuan($58.95 billion) from automakers and 600 billion yuan ($88.43 billion) from parts suppliers.
