纵观近几年来的高考英语试题,写作所占比例有增无减,写作文体日益多元化,这也反映了随着我国改革开放步伐的加快和国际文化交流的进一步加强,对考生英语写作能力的要求也在逐年提高。面对当前教育形势,高中英语教研员应发挥教学引领、指导的作用,推动课堂教学改革,为此,我们在提高学生英语写作方面作了一些有益的尝试,借我市高中英语课堂教学比赛的契机,进行课型改革实验。本次课堂比赛一改过去的阅读课形式,改为阅读与写作课,其目的是探索一种新课型,拓宽高中英语课堂授课途径,整合教材内容与教学手段,引导教师研究课堂教学,处理好英语的输入与输出关系,利用手中的教学资源培养学生阅读与写作能力,提高其英语综合应用水平。

本次比赛指定读的内容为外研社高中英语必修第三册第五模块的Cultural Corner,课题为The Industrial Revolution;写的要求是以阅读理解为基础多方位自拟题目,学生在教师的指导下,通过自主学习、小组活动,完成阅读任务,并以此为基础当堂完成写作任务。评委、授课教师、听课教师交流,分析、梳理、整理各选手共同点与不同点,归纳、总结出以下三种阅读与写作模式,供大家借鉴。

一、模式一:以文章文体入手

以阅读文章的文体为写作切入点,进行阅读和写作的突破。本次指定的阅读材料是一篇记叙工业革命的文章,是记叙历史大事件的体裁。授课教师需要根据事件的写作要求,对阅读文章的结构进行分析,理清文章的框架与脉络。阅读文章分三段组成,第一段简单介绍了工业革命,第二段讲了工业革命产生的原因,第三段列举了工业革命产生的影响。教师需要通过开展多种阅读教学活动,使学生了解事件的写作技巧,既完成文章阅读任务,又为下一步写作进行充分的铺垫。在写作环节中,围绕着事件写作这一目的,提供多个题目,供学生进行选择。通过对阅读文章的学习,学生对事件的写作有了一定的了解,也了解了文体的结构,因此在小组讨论的基础上,在不到十分钟时间内能各自完成一篇60-80词的写作任务。

Step Ⅴ.Guided writing

Topic 1:中国成功承办了2008年奥运会,作为一名中国中学生,看到祖国取得的巨大进步,你感到非常激动。请根据下列表格内容,给你的外国笔友Peter发一封邮件,让他了解这一重大赛事,并邀请他来中国参观(词数60-80)。

提示词:奖牌medal;承办host/hold

Topic 2:请根据以下信息给校报写一篇英语短文(词数60-80)。

2008年5月12日,四川发生了地震,这是自新中国成立以来影响最大的一次地震。在这场地震中,超过10万人丧生,许多地方被彻底破坏。政府号召全国人民竭尽全力帮助震区人们重建家园,现在他们的生活已经恢复正常。

提示词:号召call on;恢复正常return to normal

★写作要求:多题同做,让学生在课堂上限时10分钟内完成。

1)看屏幕选题目,每组任选一题,写到作文纸上。

2)写好后参照标准先自评等级,然后小组合作互评,为对方找出并改正文章中的错误,同时标出文章亮点(好句型、短语、高级语法及结构)。

3)每组挑选一篇优秀作文,在互批的基础上展示成果,反馈交流。

二、模式二:从文章内涵入手

以挖掘阅读文章内涵为写作的切入点,进行阅读和写作的突破。工业革命这篇文章的核心讲的是变化。授课教师围绕变化这个主题引导学生进行层层阅读、思考、理解,使其明确工业革命所带来的各种变化,以及产生这些变化的原因。在阅读的基础上,结合中国发展的历程,要求学生完成一篇以中国工业发展所产生的变化、存在的差距以及学生的使命为话题的作文。教师的教学设计不仅考虑语言学习与应用教学任务的完成,而且寓教育于教学之中,对学生的健康成长能起到潜移默化的引导作用,实现了新课程所倡导的三维教学目标。

Step Ⅰ.Lead-in

Show the dance of printing on the Opening Ceremony of 2008 Olympic Games to arouse the Ss' interest.Talk about the great contributions made by ancient China to the whole world.Foreshadow the cultural corner.

"Ancient China was strong and powerful.But in the second part of the 18th century,European countries developed faster and faster.They not only caught up with us,but also surpassed us because of an extraordinary event."

Step Ⅱ.Prediction

Ask "Do you know what the Industrial Revolution is?" Then ask the Ss to talk about some information they know about the Industrial Revolution.(It doesn't matter whether they know about it or not.)

2.Read the passage and find out the answers to the question.

Step Ⅳ.Preparing for the writing

1.Show Ss several pictures of changes in China (pictures about mass production,farmland becoming factories and thousands of people leaving the countryside to work in the city).

Ask the Ss to think about what brought about the similar changes in China.(There wasn't the Industrial Revolution in China.It is the reform and opening up to the foreign world that causes such changes.)

2.Good changes:Show the students some pictures of achievements made in the last years to give them a model.Then divide the students into four groups to have a competition to see which group gives the most information of changes.

3.Something needs to be improved."Of course,there's still much space to be improved.Take mobile phones for example to make the Ss realize the fact that most of the foreign products we use are made in China.China only copies or follows foreign technology."

Raise a question to ask the students to think about and discuss,"What do you feel about this phenomenon?"

4.Discussion(to arouse the students' awareness of responsibility) "As future builders and masters of China,what should you do now?"

Some students may answer "work hard",so the teacher should guide the students to think about what aspects they should pay more attention to during their study.

Students discuss in groups and show their answers in the class,such as working hard to change the phenomenon from "Chinese production" to "Chinese creation".

Step Ⅴ.Writing

写一篇60-80词的短文,可包括以下内容,也可适当增减:

1.Write the whole composition by themselves.

2.Then ask three volunteers to show one part of their composition to complete a whole passage.

3.Discuss in groups of four to choose the best one and evaluate it together.

4.The leader of the group comes to the front of the classroom to show the composition.

5.Sum up the features of a good composition.

1.Write the composition down in the exercise books.

2.Group work:Surf the Internet or read books to finish a report to introduce a great person in Zibo City.

三、模式三:从文章中词句入手

以对阅读文章中字、词、句的应用分析及总结为写作切入点,进行阅读和写作的突破。阅读文章中出现了许多关联词,诸如:with,as a result,because of,such as,at first...but,from...to等,对这些连接词的研究分析、总结归纳,不仅有助于学生对文章的理解,而且对后续写作大有帮助,使学生写作的结构层次更为清晰,句与句之间衔接连贯、自然,语言流畅。

Step Ⅰ.Lead-in

1.Show some pictures of the Great Inventions of ancient China.Then tell the students there were great inventions not only in China but also in the West,especially in Britain.

2.Look at part of a video about the Industrial Revolution to tell them what the Industrial Revolution is.Then lead to the passage.

Step Ⅱ.Read and answer

1.Fast reading

Read and answer the two questions to get the main idea of the passage.Complete the structure(结构)of this passage.

2.Show several pictures about the changing of China.

3.Talk about the changes of our hometown.Take Bohui Paper Mill,for example.

Talk about the changes that we know around us.

1.Show the students how to write a passage.

审题基本要求(四确定)

1) topic(话题)

2) structure(篇章结构)

3) Verb tense,person(动词时态、人称)

4)要点(3-4),connective words

2.After discussion,ask students to write what we discussed into a passage within 60-80 words.

3.After finishing writing a passage,choose two or three passages to check together.Try to tell the students how to write a good passage.

4.Give the students the requirements of checking a passage.Then correct the passage between groups.

四、结语

以上几种模式具有一个共同点,那就是把阅读与写作作为一个整体处理,阅读是语言的输入,而写作是语言的输出,输入的目的是为了输出,即文章的阅读是为写作服务的,为写作铺垫。教师根据学生的认知水平和已有的英语知识与能力,以及自己的擅长,从不同角度设计课题,以求学生完成对文章的理解和写作任务,提升综合运用英语的能力。
